Patients who wish to be considered for the Patient Transport Service must be assessed by the Bristol, North Somerset, and South Gloucestershire Patient Transport Hub (BNSSG PTH) against the national eligibility criteria that can be found here. Non-emergency patient transport is available if:
Your medical condition means that you cannot use other forms of transport without it being detrimental to your health.
Your mobility means that you would be unable to access any other healthcare by other means.
You need the skills or support of patient transport staff before/on/after the journey.
If you think you might be eligible to receive non-emergency patient transport, please get in touch with the BNSSG PTH as soon as you get confirmation of your medical appointment on
Before you ring, please ensure you have a pen and paper, your NHS number and appointment details available.
The BNSSG PTH will also be able to give you advice on other options available to you should you not be eligible for the Patient Transport Service.
The BNSSG PTH is operated by Bristol Ambulance and is open from 08:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday to Friday. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be able to answer your enquiries on eligibility and booking your transport.
